Felix “The Cat” Potvin became one of the most recognizable goaltenders in Toronto Maple Leafs history during the 1990s. Drafted by Toronto in 1990, Potvin made his NHL debut with the club in 1991 and quickly established himself as the Leafs’ starting goaltender.
During his Toronto career, Potvin became known for his athletic style, quick reflexes, and ability to make spectacular saves. He played a major role in the Leafs’ resurgence in the early and mid-1990s, helping Toronto reach the Western Conference Final in 1993 and 1994.
Potvin spent parts of eight seasons with Toronto, recording 160 wins, 34 shutouts, and becoming a fan favourite at Maple Leaf Gardens. His performances during the Leafs’ memorable playoff runs cemented his place as one of the club’s standout goaltenders of the era.
