José Canseco became one of the defining power hitters of the Oakland Athletics during the late 1980s and early 1990s. After making his MLB debut with Oakland in 1985, Canseco developed into one of baseball’s most feared sluggers.

His legendary 1988 season included 42 home runs, 124 RBIs, 120 runs and 40 stolen bases, while batting .307. He won the American League MVP and Silver Slugger Award that year.

Canseco was also part of Oakland’s championship team in 1989, when the Athletics won the World Series. He remained with Oakland through 1992 and finished his Athletics tenure with 254 home runs.
